‘What’s in Dude, where’s my career? The guide for baffled graduates?’
Perfectly reasonable question, before you part with £8.99.

And below is a run-down of the rest of the book’s contents:
Chapter 1: In at the deep end. Hear from masses of other grads in the same boat as you.
Chapter 2: Myth busting. Clear the mental clutter stopping you feeling good about the future. There really is no bad news – honest! Includes mega-myths: ‘Most people have their career planned out by the time they graduate – or soon afterwards…’ (WRONG!) and ‘The graduate job market is tougher than ever before…’ (er, WRONG again!)
Chapters 3, 4 and 5: The three-day plan. Lovingly crafted with help from The Careers Group, these three chapters aim to get you ship-shape in a mere bank holiday weekend, ready to tackle your job hunt with a clear head.
Chapter 6: The job hunt. Where to look for your job. Plus: Isn’t it illegal not to advertise jobs? (Er no, actually..)
Chapter 7: Applications and interviews. Running the gauntlet to bag the job you want. Includes expert advice from graduate recruiter Alistair Leathwood, at Freshminds (www.freshminds.co.uk) What are employers really looking for in an interview? (Guaranteed, it’s not what you think!)
Chapter 8: Alternatives to the job-hunt. When a stint of work experience, a few months travelling or a course of further study are a good idea – and when they aren’t. PLUS: Work experience – your rights.
Chapter 9: Healthy Habits. Lots of easy peasy ideas of ways to make your job hunt a little bit less painful. Includes: Genius expert advice from uber-wise psychotherapist Gael Lindenfield.
Chapter 10: Rescue remedies. What to do when your job hunt goes pear shaped, or you run out of steam… More Grade A wisdom from Gael Lindenfield (and no, she won’t be cross for failing to take her advice in Chapter 9).
‘Did you write Dude? just to make some cash?’
You mean I can actually make some money doing this? I haven’t seen it yet! Nope, Dude? is a labour of love. It was my idea and I sacrificed six months of earnings to get it written. I’m hoping I might land a few royalties in a couple of years’ time, but no, that’s not why I wrote the book. I actually wrote it because I think it’s a brilliant idea and will help a lot of people. And it would have killed me if someone else had done it before I did!
‘Did you know there’s another book called Dude, where’s my career? It’s by some guy called Rory something…’
Yes, thanks for pointing that out. Apparently you can’t copyright a title. Rory and I are not friends.
