Shoulder to shoulder with the Guardian

New here? Don't forget you can buy the book at Amazon. Thanks - Tanya x

Can you feel it?

Oh yes, that’s right, Dude is feeling a whole lot of love from the Guardian right now. As well as giving me an almost embarrassingly kind book review and regular monthly graduate feature, my new BFFs there have now invited me to host their ‘Ask the Expert’ page on their new graduate careers forum.

Like me, the Guardian’s team is almost freakishly committed to reaching baffled graduates nationwide - to help you in your search for a brighter tomorrow. Together, we WILL make graduates smile!

750,000 giggle over dodgy graduation snap

I was young, I couldn’t afford a stylist… But surely it’s not right that my fashion mistakes should come back to haunt me so, well, publicly?

It was with horror that I opened the Times on 16 September to see my cheesy graduation picture (taken July 2000) featured quite so boldly, under the headline ‘Peer fear can be a key motivator’.

People, I’m wearing spearmint.

And is that even a haircut? Or is it just hair?

Still, a great plug for Dude

(mercifully, the pic doesn’t appear in the online version! But since I consider you a friend, I don’t mind sharing it above…)

It worked for Paris and Britney…

Can this be right? Has Dude followed in the footsteps of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears - appearing in a sleazy YouTube clip, posted online by a mercenary kiss-and-tell ex?

As if!

Dude is a lady, after all.

The video might not be that kind of controversial… but it is considerably more fun than anything else you’ll find if you search for ’Careers’ on that site.

What’s the footage all about? Well, thanks to the lovely LJ at guardianjobs.co.uk, I was asked to star in a Q&A session, featuring job-finding questions from her readers…

By all means give yourself a giggle, but do you think you could try not to judge me for:

- the horrific state of my roots. It seems impoverished writers must occasionally sacrifice the non-essentials, which my accountant insists DOES include honey-coloured highlights

- my manic and dizzying hand gestures. Just - WHY??

Dude surfs the publicity wave

After some fabulous press in The Bookseller, The Independent and GLAMOUR, our spies at some of the country’s biggest media powerhouses suggest Dude? is about to start surfing its second wave of publicity.

Now that we’re well into July, it seems journalists at newspapers, magazines and TV shows are turning their minds to the 650,000 graduates who have just been unleashed onto the job market. Could it be that they have their own baffled graduate offspring camped out on their sofa - or coming back every night from brain-draining temp work?

Either way, it seems the hacks have sniffed out a story - that Dude? is getting to the readers that other careers guides can’t reach!

Watch this space…

The Amazon crown is mine - MWAH-ha-ha..!

Well, well, well - it seems that little old Dude? is more than a match for the big boys on the student careers guide circuit.

For THREE WEEKS, the book has been perched on the top spot, seeing off competition from offerings from mega brands the Guardian, the Times and Virgin!

Jeremy Kyle: ‘I fear for my job’

Dude?’ went down a storm at the Guardian London Graduate Fair. With over 100 people in the audience on both days, we had good sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Big thanks to everyone who came along!

By the second day I confess I was getting pretty into it - roaming through the audience like Trisha! Sorry for anyone I startled.
